Running has become a leisure activity enjoyed by many people, regardless of age, shape or size. In celebration of this, Ballina Athletic Club will host the first Ballina Running Festival between 1st July and 3rd July 2016.
This weekend event offers a choice of the following events, all starting from the track at Ballina Athletic Club.
Friday 1st July, 7pm: 10km run
See the route map here.
Saturday 2nd July, 12pm: 6-hour track event on the recently redeveloped all-weather running track at Ballina Athletic Club.
This is a new event, limited to 50 runners, which will take a place on the lane 7&8 of the track. The winner will be the person who will run the furthest distance within 6hrs. The distance will be calculated by multiplying the number of laps run by a lap length (AAI certified – lane 7) plus the distance covered to the point where the runner stops after 6 hours. Every participant will receive in their results the distance covered during the six hours. To complete a marathon distance, 95 laps of the track are required in lane 7 and your timing will be provided!
Sunday 3rd July, 9am: The annual Ballina Athletic Club Marathon
This route encompasses the stunning Belleek Woods, and will consist of one 1.2 mile loop followed by five 5-mile loops.
Online at Runireland.com before June 27th 2016.
