Ho ho ho! No sooner has Halloween passed away (see what we did there) than Christmas is nearly upon us and with it, the Christmas Market calendar is filling up rapidly. If you’re making your shopping list, be sure to include a trip to your local markets – as well as getting some beautiful individually crafted gifts, you’ll also get a lovely day out AND you’ll be supporting local businesses and jobs. Everyone’s a winner! Details of this year’s Christmas Markets in Mayo North are below, as well as booking details for those of you who may want to book a stall. There’s also some info on other general Christmas festivals and events.
The Scoil Chríost Rí Parents’ Association is hosting a Christmas craft fair with a Christmas cookery demo by some of Enniscrone’s top chefs. Stalls by local and surrounding businesses and wonderful Christmas music and most of all Christmas spirit!

The Annual Ballycastle Christmas Fair will be held in Ballycastle Resource Centre on Saturday 25th November from 12pm – 6pm and 8.30pm – 9.30pm. Doors will open again in on Sunday 26th November from 12pm – 4pm. There will be with a large variety of crafts and home baking on offer – perfect for all those Christmas visits! A raffle for a hamper and other prizes will take place – €2 per line, on sale in local businesses.

One of the biggest and best pre-Christmas markets in Mayo, this eclectic fair returns again for 2017. This year it runs over three days and offers a huge selection of Irish arts and craft, including ironworks, wood crafts, seasonal foods, glasscraft, jewellery, Christmas decorations, paintings and lots, lots more. A sure place to pick up a gift for everyone in the family.

Swinford’s annual Christmas Market will take place this Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd December in Swinford Cultural Centre and Meeting Rooms, Swinford from 9:30am – 3pm on both days. This annual market offers a variety of high quality handmade products ranging from ceramics, jewellery and decorations, handmade greetings card’s wooden ornaments, winter woollies, and a selection of cakes, bakes and jams all made by local stallholders.
You can also enjoy Christmas decoration workshops for children, a local choir will be popping by to sing some festive songs and Santa will be around handing out sweets and Christmas cheer.

Frosty Salmon Festival‘s Mistletoe Market returns again for its annual celebration of all things Christmas in Mayo; showcasing the best of local arts, crafts and food in Ballina and its surrounds. This year’s Mistletoe Market is hosted by Fifth Mayo and takes place on Saturday 9th December from 12pm – 7pm under the canopy cover in the Military Quarter, off Pearse Street and beside the Market Square. Rain, hail or snow, it doesn’t matter as all are sheltered under the comfort of the market canopy and this amazing venue is sure to contribute to a truly festive atmosphere over the two days. Listen out for carol singers, festive tunes, and pick up some tasty bites to eat.
Yeast Meets West proudly presents Frosty Ale Fest in conjunction with the Frosty Salmon Festival 2017, after the success of their inaugural event this summer in conjunction with Food Fleadh Ballina. Frosty Ale Fest will introduce visitors to local craft beer products and their producers based in Mayo and further afield.

This one-day Chrismas Market is being hosted by Enniscrone Women’s Activity Club in the Diamond Coast Hotel on Sunday 10th December from 10am – 6pm and is sure to feature lots of homemade crafts.

Come and enjoy an enchanted children’s Christmas experience at Belleek Castle! Deliver your letter to Santa and meet the main man while Mrs Claus will be reading stories. There will be lots of Christmas themed decorations and arts and crafts. Fairy Rinka will be doing a winter warm up dance routine and there will be lots of Christmas stalls for last minute shopping for mum and dad! And of course, add in some fab food from the Jack Fenn Courtyard Cafe.
Admission: €10 per child over 2. Adults €3 (adult tickets can be purchased only with a child or family ticket). Children under 2 years go free, however they will not receive a gift (a small treat will be given) or be part of the crafts (this is aimed for 2+ age group)

On Saturday the 16th December Ballycastle gets into the festive spirit with the annual “Ballycastle Christmas Experience”, organised by BEO! – the Ballycastle Events Organisation.
This celebration of the spirit of Christmas will be held in the stunning setting of “The Shambles” from 5pm-7pm and will feature Santa and Mrs Claus in their grotto, and the elves busy at work in their workshop ahead of the big day. There will also be a living crib with real animals there on the evening with live music and other entertainment also being provided. The very best of festive food and drink will also be on offer for all the family to enjoy.
This event is FREE! Any contributions to the Donation Box would be appreciated .
After the great success of last year’s inaugural events, this year’s Crossmolina Christmas Market run by the North Mayo Heritage Centre at Enniscoe House is expanding from two days to three!
At this intimate Christmas Market in the beautiful old courtyard you’ll find, true to Enniscoe’s strong food heritage, a great mix of food offerings as well as the best of local Irish craft. Be sure to go early so when you’re done browsing and shopping, you can wrap up warm and take in one of the looped walks around the estate and down by stunning Lough Conn, or pop into the charming Secret Garden Café for a warming coffee.

Knock Christmas Market is delighted to host a second market on Sunday, 17th December at Knock Community Centre from 12pm to 4pm following its original event last weekend (10th December). The team are responding to requests of patrons who could not travel to the event last week due to the inclement weather conditions. Come and enjoy this lively, colourful market brimming with festive cheer. It is a great family day out with unique crafts, Santa’s Grotto and face painting for the little ones.
