Foxford Traditional Weekend takes place in a number of venues throughout the town from October 21st – 23rd 2016. A weekend full of culture with music workshops, set-dancing workshops, Sean-Nós dance competitions, sessions of music, song, dance and storytelling in Co Mayo all run by leading tutors and musicians, this promises to be a great weekend.
Foxford Traditional weekend’s aim is to celebrate and cherish our native language through song, music and dance. This festival is open to everyone to participate and experience the warmth and richness of the Irish spirit.
The Sean-Nos dancing competition will see some of the country’s finest dancers take to the floor of the Mayfly Hotel and the sessions at Cruiser’s Bar will host a wealth of musicians, singers, dancers and plenty of surprise guests are sure to drop in! There are also introduction classes to set dancing for both adults and children with Edwina Guckian.
A number of workshops in tin whistle, banjo, fiddle, accordion, concertina, bodhran piano and singing along with a masterclass in performance will take place over the weekend – times and locations are listed below:
