Part of Jackie Clarke’s collection of over 100,000 items of Irish history reflects his great personal interest in the local fishing industry. Ballina has long been known as the Salmon Capital of Ireland, and Jackie over the years amassed a number of documents, books and other items relating to The Moy Fishery.
To celebrate the commencement of the 2017 Fishing Season, the Jackie Clarke Collection in collaboration with Moy Fishery is pleased to launch “Moy Fishery at the Jackie Clarke Collection”.
In addition to Jackie’s own materials, the Jackie Clarke Collection is delighted that The Moy Fishery will also be providing tangible items from their own archives to be displayed.
This exhibition will be on display from the 1st February – 25th February 2017 to the general public, from Tuesday to Saturday 10-5PM.

About the Jackie Clarke Collection
The late Jackie Clarke was a Ballina businessman and a collector of Irish historical material. In 2005 his widow, Mrs Anne Clarke, gifted his collection to Mayo County Council for the use and enjoyment of the people of Ballina, Mayo and Ireland. The Collection represents the most important private collection of Irish history material in public hands, comprising over 100,000 items, spanning 400 years, and a visit to the beautiful building is one of the best things to do in Ballina.
