On the Way Café is a beautiful 40 seater café situated on the Wild Atlantic Way at George Street, Killala. This humble establishment serves breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea, and all their food and baked goods are home-baked and produced in-house from scratch by Carmel and Iggy. We highly recommend the delicious freshly baked scones!
The salads come fresh from their polytunnel, and they make their own jams and chutneys and delicious curds using seasonal fruits – a true example of Place on a Plate. On the Way represented North Mayo in the 2016 Irish Local Development Network (ILND) National Enterprise Awards, and it’s not hard to see why.
This adult and child friendly café also features high speed wi-fi broadband which is freely available to customers who like to keep connected while enjoying a tasty salad, a homely lunch or a smooth coffee.
On The Way Café is located near the start of the Monasteries of the Moy Greenway, a 14km cycle path along the scenic North Mayo path to Ballina. In the yard, bikers and cyclists can avail of the secure off-road parking. There is also plenty of on-road parking for motorists.
