Nature has been full of delights over the last two months and we are excited to pass on news about a wonderful event at Céide, North Mayo. Organised in conjunction with Céide Fields Visitor Centre and Ballycroy National Park Guides, there will be a Peregrine falcon viewing at Céide Fields Visitor Centre viewing platform, this Wednesday, 21st June.
Wildlife rangers and staff members at Céide Fields Visitor Centre noticed that a pair of peregrine falcons has been nesting recently on the Céide cliffs, and three young falcons have hatched out. Wildlife ranger Irene O’Brien abseiled down and placed rings on the birds.
This Wednesday, 21st June, from 12pm to 4pm Irene and Ballycroy National Park Guides will have telescopes at the cliff viewing platform for visitors to view the nest and hear all about the birds. This is a unique opportunity to see these magnificent peregrine falcons in one of their preferred nesting places, on cliffs, and to see them in the company of their young. All age groups, visitors and locals are in for a special experience.
Full information is on accompanying poster.
There is no charge for this event.
