A ‘photo safari’ may seem like an unusual concept, but Mayo North is an absolute haven for photographers, with an abundance of stunning landscapes, textures, and incredible light that enraptures camera-carrying locals and visitors to the region alike. David Browne, a local landscape and nature photographer with over 40 years’ experience, has walked every ‘bohreen’ in Mayo North to its end in the hope of a photogenic discovery. ‘Fleeting Light’ is his mantra.
David organises “Photo Safaris” to scenic locations throughout the summer months, with the objective of bringing visitors to the most scenic spots and while doing so, helping them to develop their digital photography skills. Regardless of the type of camera, be it a point and shoot, your phone or a full frame DSLR, David will provide an exciting, hands-on tutorial tackling composition, framing, lighting and much more. Each Sunday, now till September David will explore a different location.
The Photo Safari is tailor-made with visitors and photographers (of all levels) in mind. David has an intimate knowledge of Mayo, Sligo and Galway, and supplies notes/instruction on camera settings as well as some local history and folklore. He holds a ‘Distinction’ from the Irish Photographic Federation, and is the retired Chair of Mayo Photographic Club.
Do not miss this special chance to sharpen your photo taking skills, capture some fantastic festival scenes and meet other like-minded photographers – and of course, to explore the very best of Wild Mayo.
Booking essential. In the event of unsuitable weather or unforeseen circumstances, the programme may be rescheduled.
