For the adventurous, an area known as The Flags, Kilcummin is reached by an old track to the north of the area. Locals recommend this area saying that “it gives excellent spinning for pollack and mackerel to name just a few”.
Lacken Strand, a beach known for its unspoilt beauty offers the angler an experience at sea angling from a different perspective with the nearby Lackan Pier giving access to productive catch.
The magnificent Downpatrick Head is another popular area for Sea Angling but its only recommended for fair weather only due to its difficult access and slippery rocks. Ballycastle Strand nearby gives safe and sheltered shore fishing. The best spot is below the car park between the freshwater stream and the reef.
