It’s that time of year again – Spring has well and truly spring and there’s a grand stretch in the evenings. Friday is St. Patrick’s Day, which means an entire weekend of celebrating lies ahead! Never ones to shirk from a challenge, the towns and villages of Mayo North are putting on a great show. Here’s a full line-up of all the great events taking place for St. Patrick’s Day 2017 in Mayo North.
The town’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade takes place on Friday 17th March at 4pm, starting from Convent Hill.
Cheer on the energetic procession featuring Ballina’s gifted music and dance groups, talented juvenile sporting clubs, and plethora of clubs and groups in Ballina. St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a great opportunity to applaud all that make Ballina a great place to live, not to mention paying tribute to St. Patrick himself! The parade will be followed by a fireworks display at the Salmon Weir Bridge commencing at 7:30pm.

The Ballycastle St. Patrick’s Day Parade takes place right after Mass on Friday 17th March, starting at the Community Hall at approximately 12:30pm.
Kiddies Korner Ballycastle will be hosting a table quiz in Healy’s Bar, Ballycastle on Thursday 16th March. There will also be a fundraising raffle in Seaview Lounge after the St Patrick’s Day Parade, and tickets for the raffle can be purchased in all local businesses.

The Crossmolina community has put together what is shaping up to be a spectacular weekend of celebrations and undoubtedly one of the most original and exciting festivals in the country, let alone North Mayo, with the St. Patrick’s Day Festival of Lights.
The highlight of the weekend will be the Electric Light Parade, which takes place at 7:30pm in the town centre. Get there early, as there are over 100 floats registered for this spectacular illuminated procession and massive crowds are expected. Join in the fun by dressing up and decking yourself in lights! ]
The St. Patrick’s Day Festival of Lights takes place from 16th – 19th March, and you can read more about it here.
The parishes of Easkey, Enniscrone and Dromore West work together to stage their St. Patrick’s Day events, so that locals can take in the full day of celebrations if they wish, and the “Three Village” St. Patrick’s Day Parades initiative has been a great success. The three parades take place at the following times on Friday 17th March:

If you miss the festivities on the 17th, fear not! Foxford St. Patrick’s Day Parade takes place on Saturday 18th March at 1pm, with entertainment in the town before and after the parade.

The Killala parade takes place on Friday 17th March, starting from the Community Centre at 12pm and finishing at the Wolfdog Tavern.
After the parade, why not enjoy some traditional Irish music and some bacon and cabbage in the Wolfdog?
Lahardane St. Patrick’s Day Parade takes place on Friday 17th March at 2pm.
Afterwards, there’s music in Murphy’s Bar by Shane Ruane from 4-7pm.

The Swinford St. Patrick’s Day Parade starts from Tesco Car Park at 3pm on Friday 17th March. And it’s double the fun, as they’re going to do two circuits of the town!
There will be live music by Swinfrod Comhaltas on the main stage from 2:30pm and plenty of fun in store in the pubs during the day with live music with Pat’s Country Roadshow in Quinn’s in the evening, followed by Billy Corcoran that night. There is also Social Dancing with The Duets in the Gateway Hotel on St Patrick’s Night (Adm €8).
You can even kickstart the weekend on Thursday night with the weekly traditional music session in Mellett’s Bar, or join in the table quiz upstairs.
