Crossmolina in Co. Mayo will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day this year with a very novel and unique event, Ireland’s first ever St. Patrick’s Electric Light Parade. As part of the new St. Patrick’s Festival of Lights, Crossmolina, the event is sure to attract interest from all over the country as the first St. Patrick’s Day Parade of its kind in Ireland.
The illuminations spectacular will be part of the St. Patrick’s Festival Of Lights and the headline event will take place at 7:30pm on St. Patrick’s Day, 17th March.
The parade will consist of traditional type floats, also cars, tractors, trucks, buses etc alongside marching bands and children from the local schools – all lit up in a dazzling array of colour. The town of Crossmolina itself will be decorated in a selection of lights and effects for the occasion.
And that’s not all – the weekend is set to be an incredible one with a host of other events planned, including a Full House Ceili on a stage on the River Deel, a tug of war, soccer game, table quiz and an attempt at Ireland’s largest Siege of Ennis – the ‘Reel on the Deel‘!
The people of Crossmolina are looking forward to this event as the town bounces back from the floods of December 2015 which caused huge damage to homes and businesses in the town, and every effort is being made to make this an exciting and fun event that all ages will enjoy.
