Ballina has been officially named as the host town for Fleadh Cheoil Mhaigh Eo 2026, taking place from May 2nd to 10th, 2026. This exciting event will bring together Ireland’s finest traditional musicians, singers, and dancers for a celebration of Irish culture, music, and heritage.

To build excitement ahead of the main festival, several events will take place in the lead-up to the Fleadh, including a special concert and launch event. These occasions will showcase the rich musical talent of Mayo and create a buzz in the community. The Fleadh itself will feature competitions, street performances, céilís, workshops, and lively sessions in local pubs and venues, ensuring an incredible atmosphere throughout Ballina.
Hosting the Fleadh is a major cultural and economic opportunity for Ballina, attracting visitors from across Ireland and beyond.

- Dancing & Sean-nós Competitions – May 4th (Bank Holiday Monday) at Ballina Arts Centre
- Music Competitions – May 9th & 10th at St Mary’s Secondary School
- Cuimsiú Inclusive Competitions – May 10th
The much-loved Cuimsiú competition returns once again, offering a welcoming and inclusive stage for performers with additional needs or disabilities — celebrating participation, creativity, and joy for all.
Throughout the week, trad and folk sessions will fill Ballina’s pubs, while special concerts and lead-in events will build excitement ahead of the main festival.
The official launch of Fleadh Cheoil Mhaigh Eo 2026 will take place on Thursday, 2nd April at 6pm in the Jackie Clarke Collection, and all are welcome to attend.
