Ballina Arts Centre will host a number of Ballina Fringe Festival Events. There is something for everyone.

“Float Like a Butterfly” is a crowd pleaser
"Float like a butterfly" - Ballina Arts Centre 7th October 2019On behalf of Ballina Fringe Festival, Ballina Arts Centre is delighted to host this warm celebratory film set in rural Ireland during the 1960s. When teenage traveller Frances has to fend for herself and her brother following her father’s imprisonment, she develops a passion for boxing. Director Carmel Winters has given voice to a fun and determined young woman. A crowd-pleasing delight.
Float Like a Butterfly screens at Ballina Arts Centre on Monday 7th October at 8pm. Tickets: €5.

Mick O’Dea new exhibition “Encounters”
RUA artist Mick O'Dea exhibit “Encounters” runs at Ballina Civic Offices 4th - 18th October.Ballina Fringe Festival is presenting an exhibition of new works from the award-winning artist Mick O’Dea, currently President of the Royal Hibernian Academy. Mike’s work is displayed at the National Gallery of Ireland, the National Self Portrait Collection, Trinity College Dublin and the Royal Hibernian Academy, as well being included in many international exhibitions. Mick lives part-time in Portacloy, North Mayo.
“Encounters” runs at Ballina Civic Offices until 18th October.
Opening times: Mon-Friday 10:30am-1pm and 2pm-4:30pm.

Exploring nature with “Flora Fauna Project”
“Flora Fauna Project” - Ballina Arts Centre 9th October 2019Ballina Arts Centre, on behalf of Ballina Fringe Festival, is delighted to stage this immersive experience which utilises botany and 1980s sci-fi to explore our relationship with nature and the environment, to examine the ‘cause and effect’ tipping point and to test our fear of the wild. Created by dance artist and choreographer Maria Nilsson Waller, Flora Fauna Project premiered in Sweden last year along with The Sei, her electronic project with Stace Gill. Flora Fauna Project looks at the body as a way of returning to nature and triggering empathy for each other and the earth.

Flora Fauna Project will be held at Ballina Arts Centre on Wednesday 9th October, 8pm. Tickets: €12 / €10.

Welcome back, Camille O’Sullivan!
Camille O'Sullivan LIVE in Ballina Arts Centre 12th October 2019The arts centre, on behalf of Ballina Fringe Festival, is thrilled to welcome back formidable Irish/French singer Camille O’Sullivan to Ballina. Previously an award-winning architect and portrait painter, the singer/actress now enjoys an international reputation for her interpretations of the songs of Nick Cave, Brel, Waits, Bowie, Radiohead and more. One of the original cast members of the Olivier Award-winning La Soiree, Camille has stunned audiences around the world with her sell-out performances at international venues including Sydney Opera House, the Royal Festival Hall, London’s Roundhouse and a show-stealing appearance on Later with Jools Holland.
Camille O’Sullivan appears Ballina Arts Centre on Saturday 12th October, 8pm. Tickets: €25.

Pat Kinevane takes us back “Before”
Pat Kinevane’s 'Before' - Ballina Arts Centre 15th October 2019On the behalf of Ballina Fringe Festival, the arts centre is delighted to stage Pat Kinevane’s new play Before. Set in Clery’s on the day that the iconic Dublin department store closes for good, and with music composed by Denis Clohessy, the play follows the story of Pontius, a father trying to choose a gift for the daughter he hasn’t seen in almost 20 years. Some folk are impossible to buy for… But Pontius has to meet his estranged daughter in just one hour.
Before, written and performed by Pat Kinevane, stages at Ballina Arts Centre on Tuesday 15th October, 8pm. Tickets: €18/€16.

Finghín Collins plays classical piano
Finghín Collins - LIVE in Ballina Arts Centre 16th October 2019On behalf of Ballina Fringe Festival, the arts centre is proud to welcome one of Ireland’s most famous musicians, the classical pianist Finghín Collins. Finghín will be playing Mozart’s Sonata in A major “Alla Turca”, Schubert’s Sonata in A major, D. 959, and a selection from the Ros Tapestry Suite. After winning RTÉ Musician of the Future in 1994, and the Classical Category at the National Entertainment Awards in 1998, Finghín went on to take first prize at the Clara Haskil International Piano Competition in Switzerland in 1999. Since then he has developed a flourishing international career, performing throughout Europe, the United States and the Far East.
Finghín Collins appears at Ballina Arts Centre on Wednesday 16th October, 8pm. Tickets: €16 / €14.

And last but not least: No Crows
No Crows - LIVE in Ballina Arts Centre 19th October 2019The arts centre, on behalf of Ballina Fringe Festival, is thrilled to host No Crows, a dynamic folk orchestra from the multicultural melting pot of Sligo’s music scene. Now in its fourteenth year, No Crows’ growing output of original material reflects its diverse musical roots from Irish traditional to Latin rumba, classical, jazz, rock and Balkan music.

No Crows plays the Ballina Arts Centre on Saturday 19th October at 8pm. Tickets: €18 / €16.
