Ballina author launches fourth children's book - Visit North Mayo

A celebration of Ireland’s heritage, culture and a little girl’s love for Irish dancing. Book launch: Saturday, 20th November, 3pm Eason, Ballina

Local author Gemma Henry McLoughlin will launch her fourth children’s book this November ‘Lily’s Magical Adventure – Dancing Around Ireland’, which showcases some of the many legends of Ireland and the breathtaking island of Ireland, through a tale of an Irish dancer and her magic Irish dancing shoes.

Come along with Lily the Irish dancer, in this beautifully illustrated book, as she dons her magic dancing pumps, and heads on an adventure inviting legends from Ireland’s past to her Céili by the River Moy.

The book – a perfect Christmas gift – has been created and written by Gemma, who blogs under the pseudonym ‘Mammy Red Head’, and it is beautifully illustrated by Loughrea-based Becky Kelly, a self-taught artist and lover of all things halloumi!

Gemma said: “It’s been a joy to research and write this book. Irish dancing is extremely close to my heart and creating a book that celebrates my daughter, Irish dancing and Ireland was a magical experience.  I always say my books are a plan or a memory of an adventure.   Heritage and culture are at the core of all of Mammy Red Head’s stories, and through my books and their illustrations I hope to encourage children and adults alike to discover our amazing island.”

Gemma Henry McLoughlin aka Mammy Red Head is a self-published author, and you will find her books on sale locally throughout Mayo and through her website, www.mammyredhead.com which also includes a full list of stockists. All are welcome to attend the official launch on Saturday, 20th November, at 3pm in Eason, Ballina.

Best of luck from all of us at Mayo North Tourism to Gemma with her latest book!
