The story of the blossoming of Ballina’s sensory park will feature on RTÉ One’s ‘Open for Business‘ this Thursday (13th May) at 7:00pm.
Presented by Richard Curran and Ella McSweeney, ‘Open for Business’ highlights and headlines the major themes affecting businesses and consumers over the past twelve months.
Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic businesses and charities have had to adapt to a new working environment and become creative with their fundraising initiatives.
Pádraig O’Hora and David O’Malley had the vision to develop a sensory park in Ballina. The duo came up with the idea to ask people to take a dip in the icy cold River Moy, donate then nominate another poor victim, to take the plunge. #Freeze4February was born!
The #Freeze4February challenge was run by the local voluntary Ballina Community Clean-Up Group and the FLOW Community Project who are collaborating with Mayo County Council to design and deliver a community sensory park.
The fundraising initiative raised almost €50,000 for Ballina sensory park.
