Bee Creative in Ballina is Mayo’s first Cruinniú na Cásca, a new national day of culture, heritage, and creativity under the Creative Ireland initiative.
There will be a buzz around the Jackie Clarke Collection (Ballina) on Easter Saturday with activities for young and old. Bee Creative in Ballina is a fun-filled family day to celebrate our wild bees.
The event is free and everyone is welcome. Bee Creative in Ballina runs from 2pm to 5pm on Easter Saturday, 15th April 2017.
The habitat for this hive of activity will be the Collection’s wild garden and the neighbouring streets. As well as having lots of fun, we can learn more about how we can protect our bees.
Everyone will love activities such as face-painting, Easter egg painting with the Ballina Girl Guides, and a treasure hunt. Dowtcha Puppets will entertain young and old, and will hold a puppet making workshop.
Come along and enter Mayo’s first Bee in your Bonnet competition with prizes for the most creative Easter bonnets!
There will be creative workshops and displays, competitions and food.
Hum along and tap your feet to the music of The Bumblebees (renowned traditional musicians Laoise Kelly, Mary Staunton & Mary Shannon).
These pollinating insects help us to grow our fruits and vegetables, to have affordable food and bring to life the colourful wildflowers in our landscape. They and other pollinating insects are in decline in Ireland because they don’t have enough food to eat or places to live. We can all help to save our bees.
Bumbleance is a children’s ambulance service and is this year’s chosen charity. It is the first and only interactive ambulance designed specially for children in the world. Bumbleance will be on site to showcase their unique facilities. Supported by Pat’s Country Roadshow, the Bumbleance will be hosting a raffle and bucket collection with wonderful hampers from Ward’s Pharmacy, The Ice House, Mark Forbes Butchers, and more.
