In her art exhibition ‘Time out of Time’ in Ballina Arts Centre, Brenda Flannery uses the vast rural landscape of the West of Ireland during the Winter Solstice to evoke a tranquil space of peace and stillness in the viewer’s soul.
The magical, fleeting essence of the winter light is captured in the work before it fades in real life, so we have the time to contemplate the beauty and intensity of these transient moments.
Winter Solstice is the great stillness before the sun’s strength builds again, and days grow longer and brighter. It is a time of rest and reflection before the awakening, rooted in our ancient irish landscape. And as the French philosopher Simone Weil says, “To be rooted is perhaps the most important and least recognized need of the human soul”.
Come and heal your soul at Brenda Flannery’s exhibition ‘Time out of Time’ which runs until Saturday 24th June, Admission free.
