“Crinniú Na mBád” (Irish for “The Gathering of Boats”) takes place on 9th – 11th August along the River Moy in Ballina. In what is set to be a most unusual and delightful sight, at 8 pm a Gathering of Boats (including kayaks & paddleboards) will depart Ballina Quay and travel up the river, decorated with flags, bunting and lights on the right hand side of the docks as far as the lower Bridge in Ballina. They will then drop anchor to enjoy live music being performed from a main boat on the river.
Note to all boatowners: All boats are to travel up river and stay to your right (starboard) at all times while in the docks. A speed limit of 5 M. P.H. will be in place. All people are required to wear lifejackets.
The Gráinne Úaile Sub Aqua Club will be on safety duty on the evening, and will also drop people to & from their moorings.
Join in the fun and festivities and come out to witness this spectacular sight that celebrates Ballina’s and North Mayo’s proud maritime and fishing heritage.
