Embers Young People’s Film Festival 2024, is set to take place at the Ballina Arts Centre from October 18th – 20th. This vibrant festival is designed for children and young people, showcasing an array of engaging films from around the globe, including several produced in Ireland.
What to expect
The festival will feature eight films over three days. It provides an eclectic mix of genres such as shorts, animations, live-action films, and documentaries. There will also be a special schools’ showing of the beloved animated film “Wall-E” on Friday, October 18, at 10:30 AM. Other film highlights include classics like “Matilda,” “Lilo and Stitch,” “Kensuke’s Kingdom,” “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On,” and “Edward Scissorhands.”
Additionally, the festival will present a collection of short animated films titled “Shorts for Middle Ones” on Saturday, October 19, aimed at viewers aged eight and above. On Sunday, October 20, at 11 AM, there will be a free screening of the Ukrainian version of “Puffin Rock and the New Friends.”
In addition to the screenings, attendees can participate in a variety of workshops covering filmmaking, writing, animation, model-making, and drama. A nominal fee of €5 will apply to screenings and workshops, with a portion of spaces offered for free to communities and groups facing financial barriers to attendance.
