An international programme of short films shot on smartphones, on the theme of Resilience with an animations selection by Dodgy Lady.
The Ballina Smartphone Film Festival is one of the most distinctive events of the Ballina Fringe – a curated programme of short films from across Europe, each made entirely on a smartphone, each responding to this year’s theme: Resilience.
These are films made without big budgets or fancy equipment. Instead, they bring to the fore vision, intimacy and stories that couldn’t wait to be told. From drama to documentary, comedy to the deeply personal, the smartphone levels the playing field, and what’s left is pure filmmaking.
Alongside the main competition programme, the 2026 screening features an animation selection curated by Dodgy Lady, bringing colour, wit and imagination to the bill.
The Ballina Smartphone Film Festival is part of Ballina Fringe Festival 2026 – nine days of theatre, music, film, spoken word and surprise in the heart of Ballina, Co. Mayo, on the banks of the River Moy.
