Dancing at Lughnasa – Ballina Arts Centre

Dancing at Lughnasa, presented by the Windmill Players, comes to Ballina Arts Centre on Friday 7th & Saturday 8th June at 8pm.

Written by Brian Friel, the award-winning play “Dancing at Lughnasa” is set in early August 1936 around the Celtic festival of Lughnasa and is told from the point of view of the adult Michael Evans as he recounts the summer in his aunts’ cottage when he was seven years old.

The play depicts the late summer days when love briefly seems possible for five of the Mundy sisters. Their older brother, Fr. Jack, has recently returned home from Uganda and his erratic behaviour troubles the five sisters greatly. Meanwhile, the unexpected return of Michael’s charming but completely unreliable father, Gerry, keeps Michael and Christina on tenterhooks as to whether he will ever settle down with them.

Tickets are €15 and can be purchased via Ballina Arts Cenre online ticket office HERE
