Killala Woolcraft Summer Workshops

All Killala Woolcraft workshops are beginner-friendly and can be scheduled at other times to fit your interests. Each workshop can be customized to suit your needs.

Introduction to Wool Spinning Workshop: Saturday, June 22nd, 1pm-4pm, or Sunday, July 21st, 1pm-4pm. Spin your own yarn on a traditional spinning wheel using 100% Irish wool. Cost: €40 per person. All materials and light refreshments provided.

Natural Dye Workshop: Sunday, June 30th, 10am-4pm. Discover natural dyeing techniques with Irish wool in our Ballycastle studio. Learn to create colors from plants such as onion skins, tree bark, herbs, and spices. Cost: €120 per person. All materials, lunch, and light refreshments provided.

Rigid Heddle Loom Weaving: Sunday, July 14th, 10am-4pm, or Saturday, July 27th, 10am-4pm. Spend a day weaving on a pre-warped rigid heddle loom, experimenting with colorful and textured yarns. Cost: €75 per person. All equipment, yarn, and lunch provided.

Frame Loom Weaving: Friday, July 26th, 1pm-5pm. Create a piece of woven art on a small frame loom. Learn techniques like plain weave, clasped weft, rya knots, and soumak weaving. Cost: €50 per person. All materials, equipment, and light refreshments provided.

Dorset Button Making: Sunday, July 28th, 1pm-4pm. Make historic Dorset buttons with step-by-step guidance. Cost: €30 per person. All materials, refreshments, and a cream tea provided.

Tweed Yarn Design and Spinning Workshop: Sunday, August 4th, 10am-4pm. Design and blend Irish wool to create a tweed batt, then spin your own yarn on a traditional spinning wheel with guided tuition. Cost: €90 per person.
