Mayo Dark Sky Festival

Mayo Dark Sky Festival 2019

For the 4th year running our Annual Mayo Dark Sky Festival presents a three day experience exploring the realms of Astronomy, Cultural Heritage and Biodiversity in a fusion of events hosted on the Wild Atlantic Way by the communities of Newport, Mulranny and Ballycroy. Our eclectic programme celebrates the natural nightscapes of County Mayo, Ireland, with stargazing and observing sessions, workshops, educational talks and activities for all the family to enjoy.

During the day time there are plenty of events including talks and workshops on astronomy, environmental matters, astrophysics, astronomical heritage and art, science shows, photography, rocket workshops, planetarium shows and lots more.

Evening events will explore local heritage to complement the night-time theme, including stargazing walks and observations, storytelling, magic and music.

The Mayo Dark Sky Festival provides ample opportunities to learn about astronomy for people of all ages. The internationally recognised Mayo Dark Sky Park will be a key venue for many of the night timed events and observation sessions. We invite you to join us on a journey of discovery, entertainment with some inspirational speakers, amazing experiments and an intergalactic welcome. From community to infinity … and beyond!
