Mayo Day 2024 – Belmullet

Mayo Day 2024 heads to Belmullet for a day packed with family fun. To coincide with Belmullet 200, the town’s bi-centenery celbrations taking place throughout the year. On Saturday 4th of May, there will be music, art, food, culture, children’s fun and games taking place throughout the town.

Live Music

The main stage will be up and the tunes will be ringing out from midday in Carter Square. Bring your dancing shoes as there will be an eclectic mix of trad, rock, country and drums until early evening. Come along to hear:

Crafts and Culture

Pick up a memento of your day, head along to Barrack St where you will find some of the regions finest crafters.  There will be a range of handmade gifts on offer, from art to pottery and knit ware, you’ll be sure to find something that suits your taste.

Vintage motoring enthusiasts won’t be disappointed again this year, as Main St will be the place to admire a variety of classic vehicles.

As Mayo Day is taking place in Béal an Mhuirthead, the north Mayo Gaeltacht capital, make sure to check out Puball na Gaelige – the Mayo Day Irish language and cultural hub, where you can immerse yourself in the Irish language.


Head to the dockside where you will find culinary treats to get your tastebuds tingling, the food village will be showcasing the finest of local food and drink. Level up your own culinary skills as there will also be demonstrations by some of the regions finest chefs and cooks.

Family Fun at Áras Inis Gluaire

A short stroll from the the town centre will bring you to Áras Inis Gluaire, Ireland’s only bilingual arts centre. On Mayo Day it will be transformed into a hub of family fun and entertainment where you will find:

  • Interactive childrens art workshop with Lukasz Krzywon of Creative Together
  • Photgraphic Exhibitions by Belmullet Library
  • The Sensory Express sensory bus
  • Go Fly Your Kite – design, make and fly a kite (registration required)
  • Art Exhibitions
  • Book reading by author Sarah Webb
  • Mobile DJ
  • Circus acts Fishy n’ Dishy (juggling workshop) and Out of the Blue (interactive circus show)
  • Mayo Fire Service demonstrations
  • Giant games and playfround area
  • Food vans

Mayo Day has something for everyone and this year in Belmullet it promises to be no different!
