Featuring cooking demos and discussions with Chef Ronan Fox and local food producers. Showcasing pieces from Brendan Farrell’s ‘Take Me Home’ show, Trad Session with Hup, and excerpts from Atlantic Rhythm’s new show ‘An Immigrants Return’, poetry reading by Seán Walsh.
Chef Ronan Fox
The award winning chef from 11am will be in conversations with Marcus Robinson of Reel Deel Brewing Company Ltd and John Clarke of Clarkes Salmon Smokery.
From 1pm to 1:30pm Chef Ronan will be joined by Louise Mulligan from Mayo North Members The Connacht Whiskey Distillery to discuss the brewery and using their products to create elderflower panna cotta with honey and Concullin gin.
From 1pm to 2pm Chef Ronan will be discussing recipes on the benefits of fibre and how it compares to the Irish diet.
Trad sessions in the tent
From 2pm – 3:30pm Brendan Farrell & friends will perform passages from his show ‘Take Me Home’ a story of love, loss and survival based during the Great Famine of the 1840’s. Composed, performed and developed by Farrell featuring the acting talents of Tommy Forde as Fr. Anthony Corcoran and Mary Le Rux as Colleen Boyle the story will bring you back in time to learn the story of one Killala man’s struggles and journey.
From 3:30pm – 4:30pm there will be a trad session in the marquee with HUP, Martin O’Donnell & friends. Martin will bring down the house with a repertoire of well-known much loved Irish tunes and ceilí music.
From 4:30pm – 5:30pm Atlantic Rhythm Productions will perform passages from the sequel to ‘An Immigrants Farewell’, new show ‘An Immigrants Return’ with guest appearances from Moffatt School of Irish Dance and Centre Stage Vocal Academy
From 5:30pm reading of specially commissioned ‘Home to Mayo’ poem by Seán Walsh
The day will close with a performance by the ‘North Mayo Music collective with Brendan, Martin and friends and students of Sheila Moffatt and Maureen Lawlor
