On Friday, 30th May at 10:00 AM, a special wreath-laying ceremony will take place at Straide Cemetery, Co. Mayo, to mark the anniversary of Michael Davitt, the founder of the Irish National Land League and one of Ireland’s most influential champions of social justice and land reform.
The ceremony, taking place at Davitt’s graveside, will be led by Minister for Social Protection, Rural and Community Development, Dara Calleary TD. All are warmly invited to attend and honour the legacy of a man who played a pivotal role in shaping modern Ireland.
The wreath-laying ceremony is free and open to all, and visitors are encouraged to stay and explore the museum afterwards ( The Michael Davitt Museum is beside the cemetery). Light refreshments will be available following the event.
