Experience one of Ireland’s most unique traditional sporting events against the stunning backdrop of Blacksod Bay

Tullaghan Bay Rowing Club and Blacksod Bay Rowing Club are delighted to host Rásaí Bhéal an Mhuirthead on Sunday, 7th June 2026, bringing a National Currach League regatta to Erris for the first time.

The event is expected to attract rowing clubs and competitors from across Ireland, making it a significant occasion for the local community and a wonderful opportunity to showcase the maritime heritage, natural beauty and warm welcome that North Mayo is renowned for.

All races will take place along Shore Road in Belmullet, offering spectators excellent views of the action throughout the day. Visitors can look forward to a lively atmosphere as crews compete in a range of races on the waters of Blacksod Bay.

  • Registration via WhatsApp or text to 086 315 9485 by 5.00pm on Friday, 5th June.
  • Entry fee: €10 per rower, per race.
  • Late entries may be accommodated up to 10.30am on race day, subject to availability.

Parking

Parking is available along the Canal, at the Docks and in the Áras Inis Glóra Car Park. There is no parking permitted along Shore Road.

Everyone is welcome to attend and support what promises to be a fantastic day of racing, community spirit and celebration of Ireland’s currach rowing tradition in the heart of Erris.
