Following their hugely popular St. Patrick’s Day event in Ballina, really great tours and The Sleepy Scholar return with a special seasonal experience to mark Bealtaine – the ancient Celtic festival that signals the beginning of summer.
Join local guides Billy and Debbie on Wednesday 30th April for a family-friendly folklore walk at sunset in the dramatic coastal setting of Downpatrick Head.
This engaging and educational evening explores the rich traditions, curious customs, and ancient rites associated with Bealtaine – once the most important festival in the old Irish calendar. Participants will hear stories of superstition and celebration, learn about age-old rituals meant to ensure a bountiful harvest, and enjoy the natural beauty and wildlife of one of North Mayo’s most iconic locations.
