Feargal Ó Cuinneagáin will give a talk on his successful efforts to preserve the corncrake in Erris.
Feargal is only available on a Saturday as he is Dublin based and will be returning to Dublin Saturday having spent Saturday working on creating a habitat for the corncrake on his farm near Belmullet.
Feargal Ó Cuinneagáin is a farmer working on 10 hectares on the Mullet Peninsula. National Parks & Wildlife Service and Feargal entered an agreement under the NPWS Farm Plan Scheme in March of 2016. The primary objective was to return Corncrakes to the farm, while also boosting wider biodiversity including Twite (another ‘red-list’ bird), Chough, Barnacle Geese, pollinators, and habitats in their own right like a species-rich fen.
