Halloween is coming, yes, if you were worried that COVID-19 would spell the end of haunted attractions in 2020, you’d best buckle up and get ready for something new and innovative, the “Hollywood Hocus Pocus Party” and the “Hollywood Horror Night”.
The new ultimate socially-distanced Halloween event is coming to Co. Mayo. Get ready to journey into the world of five classic Hollywood Horror movies and witness them come to life all around your vehicle as you journey to the Elm Street (Lakeside) Movie theatre where famous horror movie characters may come a lot closer than on the screen and hopefully you’ll make it to the end credits.
Many of the crowd-gathering events we love so much will undoubtedly be affected by the ongoing health crisis, but these two drive-thru Halloween attractions in Crossmolina will offer a socially distant alternative to the traditional haunted house. With the arts and entertainment industry at a standstill, and an increasing need to find new, safe outdoor entertainment, CF Events knew it was the perfect time to develop a unique Halloween experience so everyone can enjoy a dose of horror this upcoming Halloween season, from the comfort of their car.
Each year, in Crossmolina, the annual “Nightmare On Church St.” is a sell out and had to be cancelled this year, so the idea for the Halloween Hollywood events was borne from the idea of creating an original haunted attraction that adheres to safe social distancing measures. Most haunted attractions place visitors into smaller spaces and encourage performers to get up close and personal to secure the scare, but with the coronavirus pandemic raging on, that in-your-face approach is largely unfeasible and that’s where the “Halloween Hollywood” events come riding in like a headless horseman poised to save Halloween.
The events are designed with physical distancing measures in mind, from contact-free check-in, to immersive drive-in scenes culminating at the Elm Street (Lakeside) Movie Theater where the characters from Hollywoods classic Halloween movies may get a little closer than on the big screen.
A family-friendly version of the event, the “Hollywood Hocus Pocus Party” will be available during the afternoon. The daytime event will feature an adaptation of the immersive scenes and storyline, but trading screams for Halloween fun the entire family can enjoy. Celebrate all the tricks and treats of Halloween from the comfort and safety of your car as this not-too-scary adventure takes you and your family on a lively journey along the trick or treat trail where there will be photo opportunities plus plenty of scares and laughs. Your kids will love screaming “Trick or Treat” at socially-distanced candy stops where the friendly characters will hook you up with your sugar fix, all delivered contactless to your car. Later the whole family can enjoy the Disney classic “Hocus Pocus” on an 18 sq. mtr. Movie screen.
When the sun sets it’s time for the “Hollywood Horror Night”, imagine the scenario : It’s Halloween night 2020, the world is in lockdown and only the insane roam the streets. You have decided to take your family or friends on a drive when you realise that the Elm St. (Lakeside) Movie Theatre is open, but, after taking an unexpected diversion you find yourself immersed into five Hollywood Horror movies (Nightmare On Elm St., Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween, The Fog, The Nun, Scream) where the unexpected lies around every corner. Later, if you make it through Hollywood Boulevard, you can enjoy one of those Hollywood Horror movies at the Elm St. (Lakeside) movie theatre and you won’t even have to leave your car….but….then again… you won’t want to. Just remember those Hollywood Horror characters on the big screen may be closer than you think, just keep your windows rolled up!
The Hollywood Hocus Pocus Party & the Hollywood Horror Night were designed with two goals in mind : to keep the screams going this Halloween while keeping our volunteers and guests safe. These events were created with the recommended HSE guidelines in mind, focusing on a completely contactless experience from the moment you arrive.
