Discover the Wild Heart of Mayo at the Inaugural Wild Nephin Nature Festival
Nature, heritage, culture and community come together this June as the first-ever Wild Nephin Nature Festival takes place from Friday, 5th to Sunday, 7th June 2026 across the Wild Nephin region of North Mayo.
Set against the stunning backdrop of one of Ireland’s most unspoilt landscapes, this exciting three-day festival celebrates the unique wildlife, traditions and communities that make the Wild Nephin area so special. Developed in partnership with local communities surrounding the National Park, the festival offers visitors an opportunity to experience the rich natural and cultural heritage of the region through a diverse programme of family-friendly events and activities.
Visitors can enjoy wildlife and biodiversity talks, guided nature experiences, traditional music sessions, cultural demonstrations, local crafts and opportunities to learn more about the important conservation work taking place within Wild Nephin National Park. Events will take place at a variety of locations including Ballycroy Visitor Centre, Letterkeen, Enniscoe House, North Mayo Heritage Centre and Bangor Erris.
The festival begins on Friday evening at Ballycroy Visitor Centre with the official launch and a community music circle. Saturday’s programme includes events across the park and surrounding communities, while Sunday will showcase local traditions in Bangor Erris, featuring crafts, storytelling, a rambling house and traditional music performances. The festival will conclude with an evening gathering at the Erris Coast Hotel, including music, dancing and a special tour of a local corncrake conservation project.
