French Ballina – an exciting cultural festival to hit Ballina this summer

Already well established as a foodie destination and home of the well renowned Ballina Salmon Festival on the Wild Atlantic Way, Ballina is also building on its repertoire for art and culture and bolstering the French connection to bring you the French Ballina festival this summer from the 22 to 23rd of August.

The streets of Ballina will be transformed into boulevards with themed side streets taking you into a world of French culture and festivities with a wide range of cultural events to match the architectural transformation.

From arts and crafts at the Jackie Clarke Collection to stalls, markets and banquets, Ballina will celebrate its close ties with France through the entertaining medium of drama, art and culture. The Arts Centre in Ballina will feature quite significantly in the line up, with a couple of breath taking famous musical acts set to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Tremendous exciting is also building for a dramatic reproduction of Beyond the Barricade in the military quarter, the perfect setting to offer a stunning show for the large crowd that is expected to attend the festival in Ballina.

French – Ballina is just one of the many featured on the Mayo North calendar this summer, which is quickly becoming one of the most desirable destinations on the Wild Atlantic Way and a region thriving with events ranging from sport, to art and culture to food and entertainment.

Building on the historical aspect of the previous In Humbert’s Footsteps, the French Ballina festival will provide visitors and locals alike with a tantalising sampling of the French lifestyle through a wealth of entertaining events in art and culture. From big name musical performances to mime workshops, drama, arts, crafts and of course food, French – Ballina is certainly not to be missed this year.
