Foxford: Guirys Bar – a warm welcome on the banks of the Moy

Guiry’s Bar sits at the end of Main Street in the heart of Foxford, by the banks of the River Moy. This traditional Irish pub offers a cosy fire, friendly faces and a famously good pint of Guinness – the perfect reward after a day’s fishing or exploring.

Foxford itself is a gem along the River Moy, one of Ireland’s most celebrated salmon fishing rivers, drawing anglers from all over the world. Nestled between the Ox Mountains and Nephin Beg range, it’s a picturesque stop on the Wild Atlantic Way, just a short drive from Ballina and the scenic shores of Lough Conn.

Family-run by Martha and Pat Guiry since 1982, the bar is known for its genuine hospitality and outstanding customer service – qualities that have earned multiple accolades over the years. Guiry’s took Pub/Inn of the Year West (2018), Bar of the Year (2019) at the Irish Hospitality Awards, and were Highly Commended again in 2023, alongside nominations for Best Customer Service and Pub of the Year in the Irish Restaurant Awards.

Beyond the bar counter, Guiry’s is deeply embedded in Foxford’s community life. They support the Foxford Traditional Music Festival, River Fest, the St Patrick’s Day Parade, local drama and sporting clubs, and numerous community fundraisers.
