Language and Culture West have been hosting students and musicians for the past 16 years. Providing accommodation in their homes, Janet, Donal and Aisling teach English language and provide students with cultural and outdoor activities for a fully immersive experience.

Activities
With locations in Ballycastle on the North Mayo coast and Foxford at the heart of the county, the home you will stay in is the perfect base for many outdoor adventures. There are a number of activities available to students, hill walking, sea swimming, fishing and foraging to name just a few. During the summer months there’s even the opportunity to experience the power of the waves with some surfing lessons.
When you are not out discovering the landscape you will delve into the rich cultural heritage of Ireland. Traditional Irish Dancing, cooking and world famous ‘trad’ music, ensure you are fully immersed in Irish culture during your stay.
Courses
There are a number home stay options available to visiting students. Stay with either Janet and Donal or Aisling in their homes for up to 4 weeks, where you will learn English and be introduced to all that this wonderful part of the world has to offer.
Language and Culture West also cater for families. Enjoy North Mayo while your child/children partake in the Homestay with Language Course and Outdoor and Cultural Activities. Stay with Janet and Donal yourself and join the Outdoor and Cultural Programme, with or without English lessons.
Alternatively, organise your own trip around North Mayo, enjoying all it has to offer, while the children ( aged 12+ ) enjoy this unique experience, independently. Family stays can be tailored to suit individual preferences
