Mayo Dark Sky Festival 2020 - Visit North Mayo

Greetings from the Friends of Mayo Dark Skies!

The line-up for the 2020 festival is complete and we are delighted to share it with you. Mayo Dark Sky Festival welcome back old friends like Dr. Niall Smith of Blackrock Castle Observatory, botanist and broadcaster Éanna Ní Lamhna, and Franck Seguin and Jessica C. Garreau of Chasseurs de Nuit in France.

New participants include renowned astronomer and artist Tyler Nordgren, conservationist and bat specialist Kate McAney, and lighting designer Kerem Asfuroglu.  Mayo Dark Sky Festival are also delighted to welcome Dara McAnulty, youngest ever winner of the Wainwright Prize for Nature Writing with his book ‘Diary of a Young Naturalist‘, who will be chatting with Éanna about his book, his passions – and who knows what else.

Mayo Dark Sky Festival wish they could be welcoming you all in person to Mayo, but it is also exciting to think that people from all over the world will be able to attend their festival from the comfort of their homes and share the magic of Mayo’s dark skies!

As they have thirteen speakers ready to entertain, educate and delight you, the day will start at 9am (09:00 UTC) and there will be an event every hour, on the hour (with two breaks) until our final talk which starts at 9:00pm (21:00 UTC).

Oh, and did we mention that ALL EVENTS ARE FREE this year?  It is their way of saying THANK YOU for supporting their festival, and acknowledging how important it is to support each other and share knowledge in these challenging times.
