Mayo Day now in its fourth year of existence is a day dedicated to the celebration of the arts and culture, vibrant communities, and unquenchable spirit of County Mayo. This celebration that is all that is Mayo is celebrated globally, so keep an eye out for an event near you this May Bank Holiday weekend.
This year for Mayo Day celebrations 2018 there is events happening all over the county with one of the main events been “Made of Mayo” taking place in the Ballinrobe race course on Mayo Day Saturday 5th of May from 12.00 – 6pm. Saturday 5th May
Mass of the Exiles – Special celebration Mass for all our Mayo exiles, have you a family member or close friend living or working abroad? Come to a celebration mass in St.Muredach’s Cathedral, Ballina @7.30pm on Saturday 5th May.
Mayo Day Hike in Erris – Take on a hike over some of the most scenic views that Erris, North Mayo has to offer and don your finest Green and Red colours, this Mayo day on 5th May
Sunday 6th May
Mayo Day car treasure hunt & family fun afternoon at the Ballina Stephenites GAA club – Hosted by Ballina Stephenites GAA Club all are invited along for a fun filled family friendly afternoon. For the Treasure hunt, cars can depart any time between 3 and 4:30pm on Sunday afternoon May 6th @ a fee of €10 per team – fun and banter on return with some food and goodies in the Stephenites Club house.
Around the Bridges with the World’s Largest Mayo Flag – Celebrate the last day of Mayo Day 2018 with a leisurely walk along the ‘Bridges of Ballina’ accompanied by a very rare appearance of the World’s Largest Mayo Flag starting @10am.
