Nadia Tamerji “Insides Out” consists of expanded material work in response to the idea of skin and bodies. The exhibition runs until 1t September in The Ballinglen Gallery.
Nadia, a Lebanese / Irish artist, living in Sligo, graduated from the Institute of Technology Sligo with a first-class honours in Fine Art (2021). Awarded Emerging Artist award by IT Sligo (now ATU) to Ballinglen Arts Foundation, Mayo (2021). The award included a residency and solo exhibition at The Ballinglen Gallery.
She is an interdisciplinary artist with a key focus of rituals, skin, and fabric/ latex. Nadia’s individual work is informed by experimental printmaking. She does this by taking a specific part of the body to isolate and exaggerate it, particularly the skin. The interest in skin led her to develop research into how the contemporary grotesque may be used as a social tool in today’s society.
