The Annual Organic Garden Open Day and Plant Sale takes place at The North Mayo Heritage Centre Organic Garden on Saturday 6th April from 11am to 3pm.
As well as free entry to the gardens, visitors will be able to meet with the gardeners and to learn more about organic gardening and the benefits to personal health, wellness and the environment.
The open day will also include a sale of organic plants including 14 different varieties of tomato, strawberry plants, 8 varieties of courgettes, mixed lettuce, assorted herbs, some flowering plants, willow cuttings and comfrey liquid fertiliser and organic free range eggs.
The organic garden at the North Mayo Heritage Centre has been certified organic for over 20 years with produce being used in many of the leading restaurants in Mayo. In 2016, the garden was shortlisted for a National organic Food award by Bord Bia.
A full range of the plants for sale on the day can be found on the North Mayo Heritage Centre Facebook page.
We highly recommend a visit to this beautiful facility which sells organic fruit and vegetables to the public, and boasts a museum, looped walk and lovely café.
