Winter doesn’t mean we have to be dull and gloomy, and these pictures taken by local photographer Bartek Rybacki should cheer you up if you are feeling blue. Entitled ‘Ballina Town’, this series of photos of Ballina in Winter is captivating and emotive, and really represents the picturesque urban quality of beautiful Ballina.
Whether it’s the start black and white of a deserted laneway beside one of Ballina’s cosiest pubs, The Loft on a crisp, dry night, the stillness of the River Moy with St. Muredach’s Cathedral in the backdrop, Pearse Street bathed in sunset at the close of an icy December day, or the view of a sleepy Ballina from afar, high atop a hilltop overlooking the town, these photos of Ballina will captivate you.
Thanks to Bartek for letting us share these wonderful images.

Alone along a laneway … the narrow lane from Pearse Street to Emmet Street. At the other end of the lane across the River Moy lies St. Muredach’s Cathedral.

A spectacular vista, taken from Emmet Street, of the Majestic St. Muredach’s Cathedral overlooking the River Moy.

A quiet Pearse Street at daybreak.

The winter sun sets on a quiet day in town.

The sun, and Nephin Mountain.

In one of the nicest photos of Ballina we’ve seen, here’s Pearse Street decorated for Christmas.
