A Ballina establishment Poacher Restaurant has won the Best Casual Dining award in Connacht at last nights Irish Restaurant Awards.
The awards ceremony was held at the the Convention Centre Dublin. Almost 900 restaurant and hospitality business owners and staff celebrated their hard work and achievements at the Awards Event. Many well-known restaurateurs, hospitality business and staff turned out to see if they had won one of the prestigious awards.
The Poacher Restaurant was recognised for its top quality food, service and hospitality in a relaxed and casual environment.

An intimate cosy restaurant located discreetly above Heffernan’s Fine Foods, in the buzzing centre of Ballina‘s Market Square, the kitchen team is led by the very talented & award-winning Chef Yvonne Kathrein.
Her imagination and preparation of food is simply divine. Yvonne creates mouth-watering, contemporary menus with local ingredients, expressing her love for the West of Ireland through her food, and can often be found foraging locally for fresh, seasonal ingredients including seaweed, sea cucumber, berries, edible flowers like meadowsweet and wild garlic.
Speaking at the Irish Restaurant Awards All Ireland Final, President of the Restaurants Association of Ireland, Paul Lenehan, said: “The Awards are an opportunity to celebrate the existing and up and coming talent in the sector and are a reminder that hospitality is nothing without the dedicated and passionate staff in the industry”.
