Try locally produced Reel Deel beers - Visit North Mayo

Fancy a drink to enjoy that evokes the towering cliffs, majestic mountains and flowing rivers of North Mayo? Well, the region has a range of locally produced beers, brewed by Reel Deel Brewery to compliment the stunning backdrop of the Nephin Mountain in Lahardane and the Deel River in Crossmolina.

Inspired by the richness and beauty of the local area, Reel Deel Brewery, whose name incorporates the Deel River in Crossmolina is a ‘Hoppin’ Mad’ microbrewery, run by Marcus Robinson, that produces authentic craft beer from its base in Crossmolina.

Collaborations

Connacht Distillery

Reel Deel Brewery has in recent times collaborated with the Connacht Distillery to produce the delicious limited edition Recon, a whiskey barrel aged brown ale. The beer spent a year sitting in a cask that previously held ten-year old malt whiskey.

The North Mayo Heritage Centre at Enniscoe House

Watch out for something really special coming soon! In 2019, Reel Deel Brewery started a collaboration with the Organic Garden at North Mayo Heritage Centre, based on research that showed consumers were seeking organic craft beer.

Cllr Michael Loftus (Chairman, North Mayo Heritage Centre), Susan Kellett (Enniscoe Estate) and Marcus Robinson (Reel Deel Brewery).

A Hop Plot has been developed at the walled organic garden at the Centre, just 5km from the brewery, where a unique microclimate allows the plants to do extremely well here in the West of Ireland. The short commute means the hops, when harvested can be brewed immediately. Says Marcus: “You can’t get much fresher than that!”
