Rooskey country house and cottages accommodation in Attymass Mayo

If you’re looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway in the still solitude of the country, somewhere you can use as a base for walking, cycling or fishing, or just a quiet romantic retreat away from the madness of the city, then Rooskey Country House and Cottages is for you.

While you’ll enjoy this haven of peace and tranquility for its solitude and escapism, you’ll also be glad to know that you’re not too far from the charming country town of Foxford and located just 13km from vibrant Ballina – in fact, Rooskey Country House is an ideal, central location for touring the West of Ireland, giving you easy access to the Wild Atlantic Way, Mayo, Sligo and Galway. Your host, Mary Lynch will welcome you to her own piece of paradise in the Mayo countryside and share with you her love for the West of Ireland.

This budget accommodation belies its reasonable prices, with all comforts included. Mountain walks in the Ox Mountains – the oldest hills in Europe – start right from the back door, and you’ll encounter stunning unspoiled scenery including rushing waterfalls and peaceful country lanes, and will get up close and personal with the local livestock, including the wild goats!

Rooskey Country House

This house is Mary and Gerry’s own home, where you can stay in a spacious twin, double of family bedroom. This very large country house with its spectacular, undiscovered setting has nooks and crannies where you can be alone or large rooms where you can meet other guests. Guests have access to common areas – the  sitting room, kitchen/dining/living room.

Two bikes are also available for use by guests. A light self-service breakfast is included, and your host Mary will be delighted to show you around the area or bring you into Foxford or Ballina if you need to pick up supplies. The house also contains a small home cinema and a drying room, as the West of Ireland weather means you’ll be lucky to escape a shower – all part of the experience.

The charming Red Door Cottage is part of an ancient and beautifully restored stone cottage and byre, and the two cottages on site have been renovated to the highest standards, by Mary. The Red Door Cottage is completely private and offers warm, comfortable accommodation for single travellers or couples, with a second, smaller bedroom if needed. The other cottage, Stone Cottage can accommodate groups or families. The cottage gardens are shared.

Mary and Gerry love meeting their guests, and are on hand to share information, help in any way and to make your stay a happy one.
