Located on the Mullet Peninsula in County Mayo, along the Wild Atlantic Way, the Erris Head Loop walk supplies some of the finest views of the Mayo coastline and is a must for locals and hiking fanatics visiting the area.

This walk encompasses an easy 5km incline which you will definitely be completing at a leisurely pace as you take in the stunning views. With the North Atlantic as your backdrop, you will be greeted with a beautiful selection of flora and fauna, rocky islands and sea cliffs including lots of nesting seabirds. On a clear day, you will enjoy a fantastic view of Eagle Island.

On the return route you will see the Erris Head Eire World War II costal watch sign and lookout post. There are 82 signs and lookout posts dotted all around the coastline of Ireland, and Erris head was number 62. The coastal watch was set up in 1939 to guard against an invasion.
