The Lodge public house (pub) and bar is situated in the small village of Cloghans, on the east shore of Lough Conn, ten kilometres from Ballina. This hive of community activity is over one hundred years old and has traded continuously throughout that time. Originally founded by the Clarke family as a fishing lodge for guests to stay in while they fished the lake, that practice continues today at the premises. The Lodge is a social hub and it is not an exaggeration to say that “everything linked to the community takes place there”. Truly a pub of character, it is a place of meeting and socialising, and it is the location for a myriad of lively community events. Its rural, scenic location alongside one of North Mayo’s iconic lakes and its long history hint at the unique nature of some of the events organised at The Lodge – fishing, clay pigeon shooting, drag hunting. It is also a location for darts and dart tournaments and a meeting place for motor rallies.

A special feature of the year at The Lodge is the Annual Game Fair, which last took place in June 2017, and is set to occur earlier in 2018. A variety of chefs take part in the event and they cook game, wild poultry and fish – pheasant, venison, wild duck, salmon and so on.
Come to visit The Lodge public house in Cloghans, Ballina, and partake of a unique, authentic and unequalled experience. Take away a very special memory of a warm welcome, history, community, unaffectedness, and most of all, plan to return again to this beautiful little corner of North Mayo, by Lough Conn.
