The West of Ireland is well known for its vibrant traditional music scene, and as part of the French Ballina Festival on 26th and 27th August, you can enjoy an afternoon of trad sessions in Ballina with the Ballina Trad Session Trail.
Starting at 3pm, and featuring singers, dancers and musicians from the renowned Gort na mBó Ceilí Band (seniors and juniors), CCÉ Ballina, CCÉ Admiral Brown (Foxford), Cooneal, Moy Valley Comhaltas, Ballina is set to come alive with trad music as seven venues partake in this new and unique event featuring dozens of talented musicians and dancers of all ages from throughout the region. Many of these have musicians have just participated and indeed, won prizes at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Ennis.
The Trad Session Trail will also feature sean-nós dancer Tommy Stenson and the Moffatt School of Dance, who have no fewer than three world champion Irish dancers within their ranks.
All musicians, singers and dancers are welcome to come along and join in the sessions on the day.

It is hoped that these trad sessions in Ballina become a more regular event with musicians from across the region taking part and showcasing the wonderful talent that exists across the region and indeed all of County Mayo.
