Hiking, trail running, mountains, coastline, local experiences, great food and plenty of Irish craic – Rachel’s Irish Adventures is bringing two exciting new small-group adventures to Ireland in 2027.
We’re delighted to shine a spotlight on Rachel’s Irish Adventures, a Mayo North Tourism member offering visitors the opportunity to experience Ireland through unforgettable outdoor adventures. For 2027, Rachel’s Irish Adventures has launched two special small-group tours with set dates – one for hikers and one for trail runners. Both adventures have been designed to showcase the Ireland that Rachel knows and loves, combining incredible trails and wild landscapes with local experiences, good food, culture and plenty of time to enjoy the journey.
For visitors to Mayo, both adventures also include some of the spectacular landscapes and trails of Mayo and the Wild Atlantic Way.

Ireland Hiking Tour
9-16 May 2027
The Ireland Hiking Tour is an 8-day adventure travelling from Northern Ireland along the Wild Atlantic Way and through Donegal, Sligo and Mayo.
The itinerary takes in some of Ireland’s most spectacular mountain and coastal landscapes, with hikes including Slieve Donard, the Causeway Coast, Errigal, Slieve League and Knocknarea.
But this isn’t simply a hiking trip where the aim is to tick off a list of peaks. Along the way, guests will have the opportunity to experience some of the things that make Ireland so memorable – from a seaweed bath after a hike and a visit to a whiskey distillery, to local food, live music, history and folklore, and even dinner in a castle. The idea is to experience Ireland from sea to summit, at a relaxed pace and in great company.
With Mayo forming an important part of the itinerary, visitors will also have the opportunity to discover the county’s spectacular landscapes and experience the Wild Atlantic Way from a different perspective – on foot.

Ireland Trail Running Tour
5-12 June 2027
For those who prefer to explore at a faster pace, Rachel’s Irish Adventures has also created an 8-day Ireland Trail Running Tour, showcasing some of the favourite trails and landscapes of Sligo and Mayo.
The tour includes five guided trail runs, taking participants through mountains, forests and coastal landscapes along the Wild Atlantic Way. But, just like the hiking adventure, the experience goes well beyond the trails. There will be time to enjoy the Atlantic, discover local places and experiences, enjoy good food and relax along the way. This is not a race or a training camp. It’s an opportunity to explore Ireland on foot, discover some amazing trails and share the adventure with a small group of like-minded people. With Mayo and Sligo providing the backdrop, trail runners can expect a fantastic combination of wild landscapes, coastal scenery, beautiful trails and authentic local experiences.

Small groups. Local knowledge. Authentic experiences.
A key part of the Rachel’s Irish Adventures experience is the small-group approach.
Rachel will accompany guests throughout each adventure as their local guide and host, sharing her knowledge of the trails, landscapes and places along the way. The tours are designed for people who want to experience Ireland differently – whether travelling on their own, with a friend or as a couple.
There is also a strong focus on experiencing more than just the scenery. From mountain trails and Atlantic coastlines to local food, music, history, folklore and relaxation, the itineraries offer visitors the chance to experience the character of the west and north-west of Ireland.

Discover Mayo on foot
For visitors looking for an active Irish holiday, Mayo offers an incredible combination of rugged Atlantic coastline, mountains, forests, open landscapes and fantastic walking and running routes.
By incorporating Mayo into these multi-day adventures, Rachel’s Irish Adventures gives visitors the chance to spend time exploring the county and experiencing its landscapes as part of a wider Wild Atlantic Way journey.
It’s a wonderful example of how adventure tourism can encourage visitors to explore beyond the traditional highlights and discover the landscapes, experiences and communities that make the west of Ireland so special.

Two adventures. One unforgettable way to experience Ireland.
