Visual Art: Essence of Woman: Marie Padden at Ballina Arts Centre Runs Until 30th April - Visit North Mayo

“During Covid becoming a Grandparent for the first time and the slowing down of life gave an element of suspension!  A time to observe and examine. A time to see things as they really are. This female form and the realization of the strength of women can be seen with more than just the eye.
“Who is she?  She’s the earth’s mother, the glue in families, the doer of things, the keeper of the book.
She is the ship that sails in rough seas and safely docks at port with only the use of her internal compass.”
                                                                              – Marie Padden, 2022

Marie Padden is a Mayo-based artist and works from her home studio. Working in oils, acrylics, mixed media and small sculptures, Marie has exhibited her work throughout Ireland and internationally since the millennium and has taken part in residencies, selected groups and solo shows.

For the past 20 years Marie has been sending her art through Mail Art around the world. From Canada, Germany, Italy, and New York, to Indonesia and Brazil to name a few countries. It creates an excitement to have pieces of work seen so far afield.
