Wild Atlantic Cultural Tours - seashore foraging & heritage - Visit North Mayo

Denis Quinn of Wild Atlantic Cultural Tours is based along the Wild Atlantic Way in Killala Bay, and you can take a guided tour with him that will include wild food and seashore foraging and outdoor feasting, in one of the most scenic parts of the country.

Denis is a certified Fáilte Ireland Local Marine and Countryside Guide, so you’ll be in good hands. He also has a BA (Hons) in Heritage Studies, and what he doesn’t know about the area isn’t worth knowing!

Denis will tell you all about the flora and fauna of the land the fruits of the sea – cockles, mussels, seaweed, roots, stems, herbs, shrimp, periwinkles. He also has extensive knowledge of the heritage of the region, so expect to hear some tales from the past. You can even take a trip by foot (tide-dependent) to local Bartra Island, which is uninhabited apart from a colony of seals.

Foraging for cockles and mussels is Denis’ most popular activity, and the best part of all is getting to cook and eat the fruits of your labour later on!

Tours are weather and tide dependent, and Denis posts details of his tours on his Facebook page so check there for updates.
